Ub-Ok Design is Sefika Sakalli and Samuel Flaherty

Both graduated from the UCA in 2009 with BA (Hons) degrees in Product Design and New Media. Having personally developed different ranges of skills they soon found that collaborating on projects together provoked some of their strongest ideas.

Ub-Ok Design was formed in 2008, after 4 cappuccinos and a brainwave, the duo decided to stamp their mark on the design world together.

As designers they find themselves inspired by any everyday surrounding. They work both independently and as joint forces to design and produce a broad range of ideas and designs.

The name Ub-Ok was born because the pair believe that whatever emotion you are feeling whether it be happy, sad, nervous etc there is always a product that suits that emotion. Either a product to make you feel better or even one that provokes stronger emotions, if a connection can be made through products then the user will benefit much more of its purpose in one way or another.

Both Samuel and Sefika are inspired by responses to design, for instance how people ‘misuse’ products rather than use them how they are suggested to be used. They like to observe and use their observations to form ideas and create designs that mean ...
